Panda Mess

The surprising reasons why no one trophy hunts for pandas

I sure hope those pandas quit messing up things soon!

Steinbeck, what on earth are you talking about?

Well, isn’t it because of the pandas that we all had to stay home for the last year?

No.

Well, isn’t it because of the pandas that Mom has to wear a mask whenever she goes out?

No.

Well, what have the pandas done?

The pandas haven’t done anything. You’re getting it all mixed up. It’s not Panda Mess; it’s called a pandemic. It’s a virus that humans can easily catch and it’s pretty dangerous. Mom has already had her first shot and next week she gets her second shot.

Do we have to get shots, too?

Do you go to the grocery store, or to concerts, or out to eat?

You know I just go out in the back yard.

Then I think you’re safe. Now will you please let me get a little nap time in? Mom’s busy “working” at her office over there and as soon as she finishes, I want to remind her that I’m hungry.

Monday, Monday………..Where are our treats????

Hemingway, why did Mom have to go to the vet?

Steinbeck, I’ve told you before. We go to the vet but Mom goes to a doctor. The vet takes care of us fur people.

Have you seen Mom’s hair in the summer? It’s pretty furry!!!

She doesn’t go to the vet for herself. However, she did have to go see her doctor. Turns out that when she broke her heart and they had to open her up and then put her back together again, they had some problems.

They didn’t have to open her all the way up again, did they?

Oh no. This was just an out patient surgery. Remember? She came home later that afternoon. They told her they had to fix an incisional hernia.

That sounds awful. Hey, wait a minute. We can’t get that!!!

Why not?

‘Cuz it’s a hernia!!! If it was on us, it would have to be a hisnia.

Steinbeck, I hate to admit it but you might be on to something there.

From the Mom: I did have a hernia operation last week and it still really hurts a lot. Everything you do seems to involve your stomach muscles, as I’ve quickly and painfully discovered. Hisnia or Hernia, it’s been taken care of and a few more days of rest and relaxation should get me back on the road to recovery. Oh, and the boys have had to quickly learn not to jump on me!

Mom Plays More Than We Do

You probably wonder what that is. Well, last year Mom got a new toy.

How come she didn’t get me a new toy?

Never mind, Steinbeck. She calls it a Lens Ball and she can take strange pictures with it using her flashy box. This is just one of her tries.

I kind of like this one. I wonder if she’s going to try doing more crazy pictures like that.

Well, she did this one for the winter.

How come the trees aren’t standing on their heads?

She said she manipulated the picture….whatever that means.

I think Mom plays more than we do!

Yes, but we nap much more than she does so she would probably say it all evens out.

Is she going to take a picture of us standing on our heads in that round thing.

I have no idea.

Sleepy Sunday Selfie

The angels are supposed to send more powdered sugar this way today. So……………Steinbeck, Mom and I decided it would be good to just relax. Mom is reading one of her favorite mysteries. Steinbeck is looking out the windows waiting for the powdered sugar. I’m just practicing my “bedroom eyes” look.

Are you captivated by my eyes yet? MOL!

We hope all of you have a wonderful Sunday. Check out what our other friends are doing.

Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidayyyyyyyyyyyy!

Mom always gets excited when it’s Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Of course if she wasn’t working, she probably wouldn’t have a clue what day it was.

Sometimes she does get confused, though. I’ve heard her complaining when it’s only Tuesday and she was sure it was Thursday.

That’s just how humans are. We just have a couple of pictures to show you today. Steinbeck’s up first.

Oh boy!!!! This is one of my “glamour” shots that Mom took of me. I like all the shading she got. I also like the little freckle on my bottom lip. The other picture is one of me outside. I told Mom that pretty soon she’s not going to be able to see me ‘cuz I sorta match the deck. Good thing the angels have left powdered sugar out there!

OK…my turn now. Mom said she’s going to change my name. See, she seems to have this little problem. She claims that wherever she wants to walk, I’m there! Seriously, can I help it if she always wants to go where I’m going? I think she loves me way too much. MOL!!! Anyway, her new name for me is “Inaway”. Isn’t that silly???? Almost as silly as her wild slipper socks!

Which way are we going?
I thought you said you were going to go right and I was supposed to go left!

Mom’s So Excited!!!

First of all, let us explain something. Mom doesn’t get to go out of the house much. She doesn’t get to see her friends. She doesn’t get to go shopping (which we know she hates anyway).

She does go shopping for our food and treats, however. She said we will always have that. MOL

Back to what I was saying…..since she doesn’t really do much since that Covid stuff came around, it doesn’t take much for her to get all excited about something.

Yeah! We were just sitting there looking at her and she let out a “whoop” after she pointed the flashy box at us. We looked at each other and just giggled.

Here’s what she got a picture of:

It’s just us, Mom!

She just looked at us and said she finally got a picture of both of us sitting still, looking at her, and keeping our eyes open!

It really doesn’t take much to get Mom excited! We both hope this Covid stuff gets out of the world soon ‘cuz Mom really needs to get out and see people!
