Wasn’t this a wonderful day?
It sure was. We both got to play outside.
I’m real proud of you, Shakespeare!
Why?
Because you actually came outside today. Usually you just hide in the house. I have wanted to show you some of the fun places I’ve discovered in our yard. I’m glad you finally got brave enough to come outside with me.
Well, sometimes those strange noises scare me and I really don’t like the wind, but I wanted to make you and Mom proud of me so I stepped right outside. I liked it that Mom left the door open so I could come in and go out as I wanted.
That was really nice of her. I usually try to stay outside as long as I can. Mom did yell at me, though.
What did you do?
I’m not sure. I was happily chasing some flying bugs and there was this one that was real pretty. It was black like me but then it had yellow on it instead of white. It made a buzzing sound so I figured it was purring. I tried to capture it with my paws but it got away. When Mom saw what kind of bug it was she told me to leave it alone. I’m still not sure what I did wrong, but maybe some day I’ll understand.
I think Mom’s tired. She was outside way longer than either of us and I saw her digging in the dirt again. Is that all she does?
I’m beginning to think so. One of these times I’m going to have to introduce you to Champ. He’s the dog who lives next door. Just come over to the fence with me sometime and I’ll introduce you. Anyway, I saw Champ outside today and he said his Mom was busy digging in the dirt, too. I guess it’s just a human thing. Or maybe it’s a Mom thing.
I think I’m going to go to bed early. All that fresh air really wore me out.
Me too. I wonder if we’ll get to play outside again tomorrow? We cats have really neat lives and I’ve heard we each have nine of them!
