Tuesday Talks

My Boys2Tonight we were sitting together and chatting with Mom.  She told us that yesterday the air conditioner went out at work so it was hot and stuffy and she was afraid to go in today.

She should have stayed home with us then ‘cuz we had cold air in the house.

You’re interrupting again, Steinbeck.  She said when she got to the office it was kind of cool but it was real wet.  She said all the papers felt damp  She said it was like being in a swimming pool locker room.

I know I wouldn’t like swimming pools ‘cuz I hate baths!!!  Did Mom feel like she was taking a bath.

Of course not.

The boys

Mom, we love it when we can have these chats.

(I’m amazed I was actually able to get a picture of you with your eyes open, Little One.)

Mom, did you tell Steinbeck about your niece?

What’s a niece?  Is it like catnip?

No, Steinbeck.  A niece is not food or treats.  It’s Mom’s brother’s daughter.  You know her.  She comes over here and pets you.

Oh, now I’m on the right page.  What about her?

This is a picture of her when she was a little girl.  She’s sitting on Cinder.  You never met Cinder.  She was old when I came here but she and I were best buddies.  Anyway, Mom’s niece got her first job as a licensed RN today.  She’s going to work in a hospital where Mom has had to go before.

Mom’s going to the hospital????

No.  Once again you are not listening.

That’s because I was thinking about doing the “Slappy Paws Dance”.

Mom……..that’s the end of our chat!

About Our Mom

Dance4

Whatcha doin’ Mom?

She’s looking at those pictures again.  What’s on your foot?

There’s nothing on my foot so leave it alone.  We decided we would tell you a little bit about our mom instead of talking about ourselves this time..

The pictures Steinbeck is talking about are some pictures she took of old, falling-apart, rusty, tattered buildings.  She calls them Dead Buildings and she loves taking pictures of them.  She says she can see so many tails tales of the people and animals who used to use those buildings.  She is fascinated by the textures, colors, shapes and angles. If she had time and money, she would just go around taking pictures of dead buildings.

She can’t do that ‘cuz she can’t leave us at home and I don’t want to ride in the car.

Relax, Steinbeck.  Remember, she has that work thing she has to go to almost every day.

Except for the weekends!  Those days she belongs to us!!!

Anyway, we thought we would show you just one dead building that caught her eye.

I swallowed the red dot before and I never got Red Dot Disease.  I think you’ll be just fine.

Help Wanted

toys2

Mom said we are little piggies.

She said, you’re the little piggy, Steinbeck.

All I wanted was this special toy.

So I closed my eyes and started digging.  I used this foot first.  Then I just kept going.  I noticed that you came over to see what I was doing.

I couldn’t believe the mess you were making!  Look what you did!!

Now Mom says we have to hire a maid to pick up after us ‘cuz she’s getting tired of doing it and we seem to forget to do it.

How do we hire a maid?  Will the maid take catnip as pay?  I don’t have any human money stuff.  I don’t even know what a maid is.  I’m going to go play with my toys.

Readers, I live with him all the time!

Happy Fourth of July

Hemingway, this is my first 4th of July with you and Mom.  I’m so glad I’m here where I feel safe.

We have lots of humans and service animals to thank for our freedom.  We need to raise our paws in the air and salute them for all the work they do.

And while our paws are up, we should pray for their safety.

We’re sending glitter to all the service humans and animals who have fought for our country……and for those who continue to fight and will fight in the future.  You’re very sparkly in our eyes!

Hemingway, you missed a spot.  Don’t worry, I’ll get it for you.  We must look bright and shiny for the Fourth!

From the Mom………It seems the boys are sleeping now.  Luckily they don’t have to be outside listening to all the boomers tonight.  We all wish our readers a safe and happy Fourth.  May the fur people find a safe place so the boomers don’t scare them.
