We Interrupt Our Naps………..

…..for this very important announcement.

Actually, Mom already is the Crazy Cat Lady but we love her for that.  Steinbeck picked out this picture ‘cuz he wanted me to get in trouble.

I did not.  It’s just that there weren’t any really cute ginger pictures.  Someone needs to post more pictures of me!

Steinbeck, this post is not about you  This is about Mom and her birthday.  She’s even spending the day with us instead of going to that work place.

She’s been kind of interrupting my naps, but that’s OK.  Is she going to have catnip cake?

I don’t know.  Let’s tell the people what Mom did for her birthday over the weekend.

You mean when she left us home all alone with nobody to talk to?

Steinbeck, quit whining.  You know her brother was here to feed us and take care of us.

Oh yeah………..I forgot.

Mom’s trip to Alexandria, MN let her see and do some of her favorite things.

There were the flowers:

Mom said all these flowers were in her girlfriend’s yard.  She thought they were so pretty.

Then she also got to see some dead buildings.  I still don’t know why she gets so fascinated with them.  It must be a human thing.  The only reason I might like a dead building is if there were mousies in there.

Then there was shopping at Country Consignments.

Mom said she had a great weekend even though she didn’t take us with her.

I’m kind of glad she didn’t ‘cuz I don’t like riding in the car.

Believe me, we ALL know that.  You sing so many songs of your people that you should go hoarse.

I am not a horse!!!!

Happy Birthday, Mom!!!!

Happy Birthday Selfie

Mom got so excited about her roses that she forgot yesterday was my birthday!  I’m two years old now!!!  Where has the time gone?

Mostly sleeping, Steinbeck.  You pretty much napped your two years away.

Did not!  I played with the red dot.  I chased the jingly balls.  I explored outside.  I looked out the windows.  I chased you around the house.  I jumped up on Mom’s lap for some purr time.  I ate.  I ran up and down the stairs.  I was a busy boy.

OK…..but during that running around time, you disturbed MY naps.

So that’s why you’re so grumpy?  Come on, let’s sing the birthday song.

Happy Catnip Day to me……..Happy New Toys Day to me….Happy Lots of Treats Day to meeeeeeeeee………Happy Two Years Old to ME!!!

We’re joining our other friends at the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop hosted by our dear friends.  Please check them out and have a wonderful weekend.

It’s Here…..It’s Here….It’s Here!!!

Finally.  At long last.  I never thought it would get here!

This is me the day Mom chose me to be her new kid.  I was two months old and I wanted a furever home.  Mom got me at the Animal Humane Society, which is where she got Hemingway and also Angel Shakespeare. Funny thing is, we all came from different locations!Baby Steinbeck

Fast forward ten months and this is me now.  I am officially ONE YEAR OLD!!!!  Mom says I’m a big boy now.  Maybe she’ll even let me date!

Birthday Boy

Last night when I went to sleep I wasn’t one, but today I am!  I’m so happy!!!  What a glorious day!

Happy Birthday, Steinbeck, from Mom and me.  We both hope you have a super fantastic day.

Thanks Mom and Hemingway.  I love you both.  Now, let the party begin!!  Bring on the catnip martinis.

Mom……..You Didn’t!!!

MOM!!!  Don’t tell me you forgot!  What were you thinking?  You went out after work and didn’t get home until late.  You didn’t even schedule play time with me.  Don’t you realize that I became almost a year old yesterday?  I’m eleven months and one day old now.

Steinbeck, dear precious kitty.  I did not forget.  However, I went to visit a couple of your blogging buddies and their humans.  I hadn’t seen them for a long time and I knew you would understand.

So who was it?  Are you sure I know them?

Yes you do.  It was Katie and Waffles from Glogirly, Tails of Two Funny Cats & Their Girl.

Did Waffles remember me and did he wish me a happy almost one year old birthday?

Happy Birthday, Steinbeck. I’m trying to convince these humans that they need to stop talking and pay attention to me.

Waffles, my human very seldom listens to me.  If you get several of them together in one room, it’s a hopeless mess.

Steinbeck, be good.  Here’s a picture of Waffles, his human Debby, and me.  We’re not sure what Waffles was trying to tell us, but he didn’t really want his picture taken.

Debby Me and Waffles

Where’s Katie?  And what are all the lights behind you?

Oh, I got to see Katie but I didn’t get a picture of her.  She was busy being queen of the place so she didn’t want to socialize with us peasants.  But she did come out to show us all how pretty she is.

Does she want a younger boyfriend?  I’m almost one now.  I should be able to start dating.  Don’t you agree, Waffles?

I think she’s pretty busy, but Waffles could ask her.  Remember she doesn’t live close to you now.  Oh, the lights are so pretty from where Waffles and Katie live.  Here’s a shot Gloman helped me take of all the city lights.

Thanks mom

Mom, I’m kind of tired now so you can turn off the puter.  Thanks for not forgetting my eleventh month day.  I’m glad you got to see your human friends and our furry friends.

Sometimes You Can’t Train Humans

Guess what Mom did!  She forgot to share with everyone that is was my seven months birthday and it was TWO DAYS AGO!!!!!  She claims that after all the hustle and bustle of Christmas and New Years, she was tired and needed to take a break from the computer.  Likely story.  I’m thinking she just let my special day get away from her.

Well, she left the ‘puter on for a bit and I carefully crept over and posted my own Monthly Birthday Salute!  I’m seven months….and a couple of days…..now.  Mom said I’m over half-way to becoming an adult kitty.  Hemingway claims I’m much further away but he’s my big brother so what can I say?!

Here’s my celebration photo.

I’m trying to count seven on my paws but I keep getting confused! Thanks for helping me celebrate, even if I am almost eight months old now!!!

From the Mom:  I remembered the day of his seven month birthday but I chose not to even turn the computer on that day.  Steinbeck, we have to work a little on that patience thing, don’t we?  Oh, and don’t be messing with my computer when I’m not around.  Happy Seven Months Birthday, little one.

Birthday Caturday Art

Hey Everyone!!!  It’s my birthday today so Mom made a very colorful picture of me for Caturday Art.  She said she’s so proud of me ‘cuz I’m seven years old now.  She said she’s so glad she adopted me and gave me a furever home.  I’m all excited ‘cuz this will be Steinbeck’s first Christmas and he doesn’t know about all the neat things Santa Paws will bring for both of us.

Mom said I should take the time to thank all of you dear readers for following us this year and we hope to provide you with lots of entertainment next year.  We especially want to thank everyone for the wonderful support when we lost our precious Shakespeare.  Mom gets watery eyes even now when she thinks of all the kind words, prayers and hugs we both received.

May your Christmas be glorious and may you feel God’s love surrounding you.

Merry Christmas to all!!

Oh, check out the other Caturday Art that our friends did.

Celebrate Big Time

Celebrate Good Times……Come on!!!

Come on people……sing with me!  Today is my birthday celebration!  I’m now three months old!!!  That may not sound like much to you, but to me it’s LOTS!!!

Come on people………..I need you to sing it from the rafters!!!
Oh for pete’s sake….will you just calm down????  I’m going on seven YEARS!!!  You’re just a young squirt.

Sneaky Us!!!

Not MeShhhhh…….we must be very quiet ‘cuz we’re being very, very sneaky!

Shakespeare, quiet!  Mom’s birthday is this Saturday but she’s going to be out of town.

Oh right……..I remember that.  She’s going to a house that has two dogs and no kitties.  She’s going to be very lonely.

Anyway, since she’ll be gone on her birthday, we wanted to make sure something got posted in our blog so she would know we’re thinking of her.  She doesn’t even know that I learned how to turn the puter on so we can do this.  Won’t she be surprised?

Is someone going to feed us while she’s gone?

Of course.  Just relax.

2016 BirthdayWe don’t have any of that money stuff so we thought we would share some of our toys and treats with you.

Are you really going to give Mom some of my treats?  Did I agree to that?

picture-of-a-birthday-cake-with-lots-of-candlesWe heard that it’s going to be two hundred and elebenty billion degrees outside on Saturday and we know why.  Just look at all those candles!!!!

Don’t worry folks.  Once Mom blows out the candles it should cool down a little.  Too bad her birthday isn’t in January!  MOL!!!!Lonesome

Mom, we just want you to know that even though you won’t be with us on your actual birthday, we will celebrate with you when you get home.

Do you like catnip on your cake?

My Special Day

Shakespeare almost five months
I was about five months old when Mom took this picture.  My tail was super big…even then!

A little over five and a half years ago, on a dark and stormy night, Mom headed out bravely into the rain, thunder and lightning.  She and her best friend were heading to the Humane Society where I was staying.  I didn’t have a home and needed a human to love me.  The humans in charge at the shelter thought I would be perfect for Mom so they introduced us.  It was love at first sight!  It was also “antsy pants” at first sight!  I was all over the place exploring every little nook and cranny.  At one point I got myself wedged between two file cabinets and the humans started to panic.  Oh, I should mention that the storm had turned off all the lights so there was just some dim light available.  I knew I was fine but you should have seen the humans!  They didn’t know what they were going to do.  I guess it was at that time I decided this human was the one I wanted for my Mom.  Obviously she would take care of me and would be concerned when I got into trouble.

Now today I’m turning SIX!!!  That’s a paw and a claw in cat years.  My older brother, Hemingway, turned six in December and he thought he was such hot stuff.  Well, now I’m the same age, but I’m even hotter!  My flame blaze fur proves it!!

From Hemingway:         Happy Birthday, little brother!  Even though I didn’t really appreciate it when Mom brought you home on that stormy night, I’ve sort of gotten used to you.  I know we still have our squabbles, but Mom knows we’re not real serious.  It’s just that “catling rivalry” stuff.  I hope your birthday is special and that you get so many treats you will feel it’s necessary to share.  (If you don’t, I’ll tell Mom!)

From The Mom:             Shakespeare, you add such comic relief to the house.  I always know when it’s mealtime ‘cuz you’re either circling the house or you’re sitting on top of your food container.  You never let me forget your treats at night.  When I put them down you scoop them up just like a vacuum cleaner.  Nobody loves food more than you do.  You’re not a cuddly cat, but you still want to be petted and brushed.  You look for me when you’re lonely.  You talk like crazy whenever I’m in the kitchen.  For some reason you seem to think your food comes from the microwave.  Believe me……it doesn’t.  Thanks for being such a fun part of our family all these years.  Happy Birthday to my orange fellow!  May your special day be extra, extra special!

Birthday Shakespeare

A Paw and a Claw!

Hemingway Birthday

It’s my birthday today and I’m a “Paw and a Claw”!!!  That’s six in human years.  I’ve been with Mom a long time now and I am so happy.

Here’s what I looked like as a baby:

Hemingway 9 Weeks Old

I did finally grow into my ears and my whiskers!

Hemingway's Reaction to Shakespeare

And this is what I looked like when Mom brought Shakespeare home a few months later!  Now I kind of like having a little brother.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day.  I know tomorrow is the really big day, but Mom makes today extra special for me.  So let’s all sing “Happy Birthday to me!”
