Mom’s Home!

Mom’s finally home and we’re so happy.

First thing she did was let us go outside to play.

Then she got us some fresh catnip.

We’re happy, happy kitties.

We do have a question, though.  You know that thing on the wall with the numbers?

And we’re not talking about that thing you humans call a clock that tells Mom when it’s too late for us to go outside.

No, we’re talking about that thing you humans call a calendar.

Mom’s calendar has kitties on it!

Anyway, we decided that one whole line of numbered boxes or what  you  call a week is way too long for Mom to be gone!

Yes, even though she stopped by to visit us a few times it wasn’t the same.

It took too many hours for one of those weeks to pass.  We don’t want Mom to be gone that long again.  We’re even thinking of hiding her suitcase!

Do the rest of you fur people have your humans leaving for that long?

Mom talks about taking vacations and that when she does it’s usually for a week at least.  Why does she think she needs to take a vacation from us?

Well, I can sure think of things you do to drive her crazy!

Hush!  This is serious.  We have to sit down and discuss this vacation concept.  I don’t think it fits into our world.

I’m going to go sit by the window and wait for Mom to get home.  I’m too tired to think.

Now that you mention it, I’m too tired as well.  Let’s get ready to rush out the door as soon as Mom gets home.

Good idea!

Friday the 13th

I have a question.

You usually do.

Quiet.  This is serious.  Besides, Mom told you to be nice.

What is it now?

Why are some humans and fur people afraid of Friday the 13th?

I’m not sure.  It has something to do with the number 13 and if it falls on a Friday it means bad luck.

That makes no sense!  Fridays are right before Saturdays and Saturdays are part of the weekend so all humans and fur people should be excited.

I agree with you.

So, let’s change how the humans think about Friday the 13th.

How?

Let’s tell them to think of 13 things they really like to do, see, read or eat and they can do them all on Friday the 13th.

That’s a wonderful idea.

Let’s start on our list to give them an idea.  First of all there’s treats.

Yes, I knew that was going to be mentioned.  How about naps?

Rolling in the grass.

Having Mom brush us.

Unwrapping a new toy.

Listening to the birds sing.

Purring.

Talking to an old friend.

Getting tummy rubs.

Chewing on fresh catnip.

Trying some new food.

Going for a ride.

Writing a blog.

We did it!  We came up with 13 things.  Now it’s time for our fur people and human readers to do the same.  We just have to make Friday the 13th fun for everyone!

About that first item on our list…………..where’s Mom?

We Saw Him…..We Saw Him!!!!

I always like to wake up really early and I try to get Mom up but she usually ends up pushing me out of her room and shutting the door.

I’m the good kitty.  I don’t usually wake up Mom before that thing on her dresser starts making all that obnoxious noise.

Hush.  I’m trying to explain to the humans and other fur people what happened to us this morning.

Mom finally got up and she came out and gave us some food and then she was busy doing something in her room.  When she came out again, she was surprised to find both of us staring out the window.   She came over to see what we were looking at and she started laughing.

She told us it was the Easter Bunny!  We didn’t realize that’s who it was ‘cuz he was gray and brown instead of white.  He was just sitting there staring at us.

But he didn’t have a basket of eggs with him.

We were wondering what he was doing out this early.  Did he forget to look at the calendar?

Is he going to bring us a basket of eggs?  I don’t want eggs.  I want treats.  Doesn’t the Easter Bunny bring baskets of treats to the fur people?

I don’t know if he does, but he should!  This morning was really fun for us ‘cuz not every fur person gets to see the Easter Bunny bright and early!!  I sure hope he remembers to come back on the right day.

IT’S MY SPECIAL DAY…..AT LAST!!!!

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY….IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!  IT’S FINALLY HERE!!  EVERYBODY SING…HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I was born on March 22, 2010 and Mom adopted me on June 25, 2010.  I was really scared when I first came to my new house.  There was a big black and white cat named Hemingway that I found out was going to be my big brother.  There was also an old black and white dog named Ebony.  I didn’t know what dogs were but I liked her.  She’s gone now and I miss her.  I am a lucky kitty and I’m so glad Mom chose me.

Here’s a picture of me when I was little:

My tail was big even then!

Now that I’m two I suppose I should start planning my career.  Do you think I would make a good model?  I know I don’t want to be a football star and I don’t want to drive a race car.  However, being a model or a movie star might suit me.

Well, I better get going so everyone can greet me and talk to me on my birthday.  I’m going to play, nap, eat and run through the house ‘cuz I’m so happy it’s my birthday!

Tell you what I’m going to do.  Since it’s my birthday, if Hemingway doesn’t come back here and finish his food, then it’s mine to eat.  First I have to clean out my dish but that shouldn’t be a problem.

To all my human and fur people friends, I just want to thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday.  I’m really enjoying my special day!

Mom…..hurry up and get home from work so I can open my presents and eat my treats!  Hemingway, thank you for letting me have the blog to myself today.  I’ll do the same for you on your birthday.

Loneliness Isn’t Fun….Even for Kitties

I miss Mom!  Isn’t she ever coming home?  Did she leave us forever??

Will you calm down?  You know that big piece of paper hanging on the wall that has pictures of kitties and big squares with numbers in them?

What does that have to do with Mom?

That thing is what humans call a calendar and they keep track of important things on it.

Like my birthday?

Hush!  Mom wrote on there when she’s going to be coming back.

How long do we have to wait?

Today is Friday and counting today it will be five days.  That’s one paw.

You mean she’ll be home in one paw’s worth of time?

You’ve got it.

I’m so happy!!!

I heard Uncle Bob saying she will be stopping by the house tomorrow to get some different clothes ‘cuz it’s so warm now.

Do you think we can convince her to let us go outside and play while she’s here?

I’m sure we can.

That dog she’s taking care of must be lots of work ‘cuz she hasn’t even called us or sent us an email.

I think she said that she doesn’t have a computer at that house.

Well, she has a phone!  She should call us.  I miss Mom!!!!
