Hemingway, this is my first 4th of July with you and Mom.  I’m so glad I’m here where I feel safe.

We have lots of humans and service animals to thank for our freedom.  We need to raise our paws in the air and salute them for all the work they do.

And while our paws are up, we should pray for their safety.

We’re sending glitter to all the service humans and animals who have fought for our country……and for those who continue to fight and will fight in the future.  You’re very sparkly in our eyes!

From the Mom………It seems the boys are sleeping now.  Luckily they don’t have to be outside listening to all the boomers tonight.  We all wish our readers a safe and happy Fourth.  May the fur people find a safe place so the boomers don’t scare them.

We are enjoying the peace and quiet of our backyard right now.

Mom said we have to be inside tonight when all the booming starts.

Starts???  It’s already been happening.

We don’t like it but it doesn’t seem to scare us.

Mom makes sure all the windows are locked and that big machine that blows cool air is on so we’re happy.

Both of us and Mom want to wish all of you a very happy and safe Fourth of July!  Please remember that we fur people don’t understand all the loud noises you humans make on this holiday.  Many of us don’t like them and we are very scared of them.  Think of us and do something to help us get through this terrifying night.  Thanks so much!

Pretty Colors

We have to apologize for not taking time to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July.  Blame it on Mom!  She got home from work early on Thursday but she went out and started working in the yard.  Then on the Fourth, there she was….doing the same thing!  At least she had us outside so we were busy telling her what to do.

That night she said she was going over to visit some friends so they could all watch the fireworks together.  We had no idea what she was talking about so we just stared at her (…as only we cats can do).

She told us to go around in the yard and look at all the colors and then imagine them up in the sky.

That’s just plain silly!  But we wandered around and looked at colors.

It’s another strange human thing!

Then Mom brought these photos home so we could see what the fireworks looked like.

Fine.  Now we sort of understand.

Why don’t you just hang the flowers up higher and lie down on the ground to look at them?

 

Then you could celebrate the Fourth of July whenever you wanted!

Mom said we should take time to wish all the humans and fur people a Happy Fourth of July!

We’re not doing much celebrating because it’s too hot.  In fact, Hemingway got in trouble again this morning.

You are such a tattler!

Well, I heard Mom telling you to quit knocking things off the entertainment center, desk and end tables.

Mom wouldn’t pay attention to me.  She should have known I had to go outside.

I wanted to go out too, but I figured I should be good ‘cuz I knew Mom didn’t get much sleep and she was not in a very happy mood.

Well, I notice that you ran right out the door with me.

Sure……..why not?

Mom was out talking to one of her human neighbors and I came up to join in the conversation.  It’s so hot outside and I started panting.  The neighbor was amazed that I knew how to do that.

I’ve been doing it, too!  We’re both hot and we try to find cool places.  You try walking around with all this fur…..not to mention a gloriously fluffy tail.

My tail is big and fluffy, too.  Besides I get hotter ‘cuz my fur is black. 

Why did we start writing this blog today?

Oh, that’s right.  We wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July.  You fur people stay away from the fireworks.  If the noise bothers you, tell your humans to take you downstairs to a safe place.

If you’re having really hot weather like we are, be sure to drink lots of water and stay out of the sunshine.

We have to go find some shade now and enjoy the breeze.
