Our First Day of 2019

Happy New Year, Readers!

Glad to see you made it into 2019. I had no idea we were going from one year to another.

I knew because Mom put a new cat calendar on the wall. She said the calendar is kind of sad this time ‘cuz it’s the last time she’ll get one from her friend. She got a call today and was told he passed away last night. Mom says it really puts a damper on celebrating a new year.

However, Mom also said that we have no known schedule that tells us exactly how long we have on this side of The Rainbow Bridge, and that goes for us fur people as well.

We don’t mean to be all down and sad today, but we do have to face facts. People and fur people are still hurting. There’s fighting, even between me and Steinbeck.

But that’s not real fighting. I just like to torment you to get your attention.

MOL!!! I know that. But there is sadness in the world and we can choose to focus on it, or be thankful for each moment we get and try to spread happiness.

I like that option. Each day of cold snowy weather gets us closer to summer when the catnip will be growing again.

Yes, and each smile you give to someone else, gets passed along to others.

Don’t forget hugs and scritches.

Right you are. See, that’s focusing on good things that make us happy. If we’re happy, it will spill over onto others and they will be happy.

Mom doesn’t like it when I spill things.

That’s not what I mean. This is something you would like to spill. It’s like looking outside, seeing the sunshine bouncing off the winter landscape, and being thankful you’re inside by the fire. It’s that warm cozy feeling you like to share with others.

Mom, we’re sorry you lost your friend. Maybe he’ll find Shakespeare and tell him hi.

For now, we’ll soak up the sunshine and let it spill all over the place and maybe some of it will reach you, dear readers.  May 2019 be gentle and kind to all of you.

We Made It!!!

Mom says we should let you know that we survived the holidays and we’re ready for 2018.

Hemingway and wrapping

Well, I for one had to work very hard!  I turned 8 years old on December 24th so of course I had to check on all the presents.  Steinbeck was really slow about getting involved in all the mayhem but once he discovered that we had a Bolt, he got very excited chasing the red dot all around.

Big Sleep 2018

This is my safe place.  I’m way up on top of the computer desk so I can supervise Mom as she works on our blog.  Mom always smiles when she sees me up here ‘cuz she said Shakespeare used to sit up there all the time, too.

Tired Boy

Well, it was hard work turning eight so I had to get my rest in when I could.

My Big Box

Mom…is this box for me?  How do I get in it?  Is there a special door?

From the Mom:  Special greetings to all our friends!  We hope 2018 will be a special one for all of you and that it will be a year filled with kindness, love and peace instead of hatred, crimes and cruelty.  The boys had a fun time exploring new toys and new treats.  They’ve been doing lots of napping lately.  So have I!!  It’s been really cold and we do have snow on the ground but not much.  I hate to think of heading back to work tomorrow ‘cuz I know the boys will be at home sleeping in sun puddles.  Oh well….I guess someone had to pay for their food!  I hope to do a better job of sending you updates and funny stories in 2018.  Sometimes it gets really hard working full time and trying to get all the fun things done.  Thanks for following us!!

Happy Catnip New Year!!

We’re kind of being mellow today.  Christmas wore us out!

You didn’t have to get into EVERYTHING!

Isn’t that what Christmas is for?  All those packages filled with toys and treats and catnip smells.

Some were mine and you tried to open all of them.

Oh well, I’m just a kitten.  What can you expect?

Obviously, not much!

Mom says we’re supposed to say Happy New Year to everyone.  What does that mean?

It means that tomorrow it will be 2017.

What is it today?

It’s the last day of 2016.

I’ve never seen 2017 before.

None of us have but we’re hoping God will bless us with some wonderful moments and be right by our sides during the tough times.  We hope and pray that will hold true for all of our readers.

What’s the Big Deal?

So Mom let us go out for a bit now that it's 2015.
So Mom let us go out for a bit now that it’s 2015.

We thought maybe things would be different now that it’s 2015.  Mom said it’s a new year and I guess it is ‘cuz she changed the kitty calendar on the wall.

Is there anything different on the other side of the fence? It doesn't look like it to us.

Let me in Mom! I think 2015 is just as cold as 2014 was.

I want in, too. My toesies are getting cold.

I want in, too. My toesies are getting cold.

Dear humans and fur people.  So far we’re not impressed with 2015.  We’re not sure why you stayed up all sorts of hours to celebrate.  We’ve discovered that it’s still cold and there’s still white stuff on the ground.  Maybe 2016 will be different.  How long until we celebrate that?

It’s Almost Here

Hey Shakespeare, 2015 is almost here!

How will we know when it arrives? Will it knock on the door and wake me up?

I don’t think so.

Did it send Mom a card telling her it was coming?
Did it send Mom a card telling her it was coming?

I don’t see one.

By the way, what is 2015? Does it have something to do with catnip and treats???

Dear readers, this is what I have to put up with all the time!

Readers, wherever you are and whatever you are doing on New Year’s Eve, we just want to thank you so much for following us through 2014.  We hope you continue to read about our thoughts and views in 2015.  We are so pleased to have met so many different bloggers through this computer thing.  May 2015 be a special year for all of you!

Happy New Year

Shakespeare, are you doing what Mom said?

Did you call me?  I’m just playing house in this cool box Mom got.

You’re supposed to be working.

Working on what?

Working on your New Year’s Resolutions like I am.

Copy of P1020335

I don’t see anything on that paper.

I know.  I’m having problems with it.  What is a resolution anyway?  I looked it up on the internet and it said something about being determined.

Well that already fits us!   Why did Mom say we had to write resolutions?  She knows we want to play when she’s home and not do work stuff.

Well, I think it has something to do with the fact that this is the end of 2012.

Oh nooooooooooooooo.  What’s happening to 2012?  What are we going to do?

Relax!  The humans have a little over 365 days in what they call a year.  2012 ends tonight at midnight and then it becomes 2013.

So when we wake Mom up for breakfast it will be 2013?

Yes…..as long as we don’t wake her up before midnight.

I wouldn’t think of doing that.  Well…..I might think of it but I know I shouldn’t do it.  Hey…is that a resolution?  I think I’ll take a little nap and see if there are some things I should really be determined about in 2013, so don’t bother me.

I think it’s kind of sad that 2012 is ending.  That means that the next big thing will probably be your birthday and we’ll never hear the end of that.

From the Mom:

Boys, you’ve made 2012 so much fun for me.  You’ve grown into real nice kitties.  I still remember the day I first adopted the two of you.  Hemingway, you were first and I counted on you to be nice to your new little brother when he arrived.  You still have your little quarrels, but you also look out for each other.  I think the best resolutions you two could make would be to stay as sweet and thoughtful as you are.  I know you want to wish all of your fur people and human friends a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.  All of us hope that all of you dear friends have a year that’s filled with love, hope, peace and joy.  May this be the year when humans really reach out to help others.

Happy New Year!

This is a special posting for us.

It sure is and we’re going to PARTY!!!

Mom says this is our 100th post since we first started chatting with the humans and fur people out there in computer land.

We’re chatty kitties!

It’s also the end of 2011 and tomorrow is 2012.  By the way, Shakespeare……what are you doing????

I’m going to sit here at the monitor and see if confetti starts pouring out in celebration of our 100th post.  Or maybe cat food and treats will start pouring out.

Are you going to sit there until midnight and see what happens when the New Year starts?

Maybe.  If I don’t get tired or hungry.  Maybe some of our computer humans and fur people will be up and they’ll talk to me.  Don’t you want to join me?

I don’t think I’m going to bother staying up until midnight.

Why not?

Well, Mom probably won’t last that long and curling up on the bed sounds neater than sitting in front of the monitor.

I’ll tell you all about the festivities in the morning.  Just make sure Mom puts some food by the monitor so I don’t get hungry.

Happy New Year to all of our computer humans and fur people.  We hope 2012 is very kind to all of you!!!

A “Really Lot”

Can I borrow your toes and fingers?

Mmmfft….mmmmmmm….y..a..w..n………..     What????

Can I borrow your toes and fingers?

You woke me up to ask a silly question like that?  Why do you need my toes and fingers?

Mom said that we have almost 100 posts on our blog and I was just trying to figure out how many that really is.  I ran out of toes and fingers so I need more.

I don’t think you’ll have enough even if you use my toes and fingers and Mom’s toes and fingers.

Wow!!!!  That’s a really lot then.

Yes, it’s a “really lot”.

I guess we’ve had all sorts of things to talk about in 2011.

Now we’re going to have to come up with some new things for 2012.

Why?  What’s happening?

Tomorrow is December 31st and that’s the last day of 2011.  The next year is going to be 2012.

That means my second birthday is in 2012.  I really like that year!!!

Fine.  Now let me go back to sleep.
