Evening Traditions

We try our best to make Mom laugh when she comes home from work.

We both have our traditions and if we don’t do them, Mom knows something is wrong., like when I got so sick.

I like to sit in the side window in the living room and watch for Mom to come home.  Mom usually looks at the window to see if I’m there.  However, I know what her car sounds like so I can tell she’s there before she pulls into the driveway.  She always starts laughing (or so she tells me) ‘cuz she can tell I’ve been waiting for her.  See, when she pulls into the driveway and looks at the window, if I’m not there, she can tell I was ‘cuz the blinds are moving in all sorts of directions.

I make Mom laugh when she gets to the door.  She has her key in her hand but she looks in the door, and there I am reaching up for the doorknob to “help” her.  She thinks I look so cute that she can’t help but laugh.  Then when she finally unlocks the door and opens it, I take time for a quick “mew” and then I’m off racing into the back yard to see what I’ve missed.  I usually do come back in again to check on my food dish, but I like to spend as much time in the back yard as I can.

Then, once we’re both inside, we have to take a nap.  Usually we’re both on the couch with Mom.  We watch TV or read or maybe talk on the phone.  It’s our together time and sometimes we get to chase the red dot.

When it’s almost time for Mom to go to bed, she goes out to the kitchen where all the food is and she gets us some treats.  Hemingway sits up and begs for his treats but I don’t have time for that so Mom just lets me have mine.

So, we have greeting time, outside time, together time and then treat time.

Guess what comes next?

We Made It!!!

Mom says we should let you know that we survived the holidays and we’re ready for 2018.

Hemingway and wrapping

Well, I for one had to work very hard!  I turned 8 years old on December 24th so of course I had to check on all the presents.  Steinbeck was really slow about getting involved in all the mayhem but once he discovered that we had a Bolt, he got very excited chasing the red dot all around.

Big Sleep 2018

This is my safe place.  I’m way up on top of the computer desk so I can supervise Mom as she works on our blog.  Mom always smiles when she sees me up here ‘cuz she said Shakespeare used to sit up there all the time, too.

Tired Boy

Well, it was hard work turning eight so I had to get my rest in when I could.

My Big Box

Mom…is this box for me?  How do I get in it?  Is there a special door?

From the Mom:  Special greetings to all our friends!  We hope 2018 will be a special one for all of you and that it will be a year filled with kindness, love and peace instead of hatred, crimes and cruelty.  The boys had a fun time exploring new toys and new treats.  They’ve been doing lots of napping lately.  So have I!!  It’s been really cold and we do have snow on the ground but not much.  I hate to think of heading back to work tomorrow ‘cuz I know the boys will be at home sleeping in sun puddles.  Oh well….I guess someone had to pay for their food!  I hope to do a better job of sending you updates and funny stories in 2018.  Sometimes it gets really hard working full time and trying to get all the fun things done.  Thanks for following us!!

Friday Fun

Mom didn’t go to work today so she got to see what our normal day is like.

Of course we didn’t show her all the naughty things we do.

What do you mean we?  Seems she’s always saying, “Steinbeck, NO!”

Of course we spend lots of the day playing.  I like to think I don’t cost Mom much money ‘cuz I love to play with empty boxes, empty bags and of course the stay pieces of paper things I may find.

After Steinbeck dumps all of toys out of the toy basket, I like to grab my favorite carrot and play with that.

Of course most of our day is spent with me trying to defend my rights as King of the House!  The little one thinks he can beat me up, but obviously he has lots to learn.

Wanna bet?????

After our “slappy paw” dances, we usually settle down for a long nap so we can be ready to greet Mom when she comes home from work.

Graduation Day

Mom says I’m a big boy now.  I got to be free in the whole house today with Hemingway.  I hated being shut in a room by myself so the freedom was pretty exhausting!!

Just imagine how tired I am!!!  Mom, I couldn’t get my naps today ‘cuz Steinbeck was hopping all over the place.  Can’t he go back to his private room?  He has way too much energy for his own good.

40 Winks Times Two

Dead to the world
It was a long day. zzzzzzzzzzz
Long Sleep for Shakespeare
I love my naps. zzzzzzzzzzzz

Our friends at My Three Moggies are hosting 40 winks posts today.  We are supposed to post some of our funny sleeping positions.  Mom searched but she found out that we don’t often let her use that flashy box on us when we’re sleeping really silly.  We like to think we sleep adorable!
