Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidayyyyyyyyyyyy!

Mom always gets excited when it’s Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Of course if she wasn’t working, she probably wouldn’t have a clue what day it was.

Sometimes she does get confused, though. I’ve heard her complaining when it’s only Tuesday and she was sure it was Thursday.

That’s just how humans are. We just have a couple of pictures to show you today. Steinbeck’s up first.

Oh boy!!!! This is one of my “glamour” shots that Mom took of me. I like all the shading she got. I also like the little freckle on my bottom lip. The other picture is one of me outside. I told Mom that pretty soon she’s not going to be able to see me ‘cuz I sorta match the deck. Good thing the angels have left powdered sugar out there!

OK…my turn now. Mom said she’s going to change my name. See, she seems to have this little problem. She claims that wherever she wants to walk, I’m there! Seriously, can I help it if she always wants to go where I’m going? I think she loves me way too much. MOL!!! Anyway, her new name for me is “Inaway”. Isn’t that silly???? Almost as silly as her wild slipper socks!

Which way are we going?
I thought you said you were going to go right and I was supposed to go left!

The Angels Are At It Again

If you look closely, you will see NO kitty paw prints out on the deck.

Steinbeck and I woke up this morning and saw that the angels had been busy again. They must have too much powdered sugar up there ‘cuz they dumped some more on us.

This is what we see out the front windows. The snowbanks across the street are getting bigger. We think those evergreens might be scared.
I got brave and stuck my little nose outside and this is what I saw in the back yard.

Not only did the angels dump the powdered sugar, but they also turned on all their fans and made things blow around here. Mom stuck her nose out to get the mail and the door almost blew shut!

And the angels also left all their freezers open ‘cuz Mom says the temperatures are going to keep dropping. I would love to stay up and look out the window to see if there are any dropping temps outside.

However………..this is what we’ll be doing:

Powdered Sugar??

I told Mom that I just had to go outside and check out all the powdered sugar out there. It’s everywhere. I love to explore in our back yard and when it’s not super cold, I need to be out there checking on things.

Mom…check it out! There really is powdered sugar everywhere. As far as my kitty eyes can see. I just have one question. Why is this powdered sugar so cold????

Mom……..come here. I think I found the end of the road!!! I’m just going to try digging a little bit here to see if there’s any catnip.

Steinbeck, you’ve seen this white stuff before. Why are you acting so crazy? Even the outside cats know that the white stuff is snow and that it is cold and it will be around for a long time. They also know that catnip doesn’t grow when it’s cold and icy outside.

Well, with all that Covid stuff running around and making humans and fur people stay inside, I choose to make my own little fantasy world and pretend things. I still say this is powdered sugar.

Sunny Sunday Selfie

imageedit_6_9068136845

Mom said I could “fancy up” my selfie today.  I was so excited.  We all got to go outside.  I decided it was the perfect time to use my body to clean off the deck.  There were little twigs and old leaves and little bits of this and that.  I managed to get them on my fur.  MOL!!!  That’s why Mom said I should “fancy up” my selfie.  I hope everyone had a very good weekend and is ready to start another week.

What Happened?

imageedit_2_9843976138

Steinbeck, have you looked outside?

I don’t want to.  I made the mistake of looking out a little while ago and it was white.  I guess the angels were washing their wings and they spilled detergent all over the place.

You can believe that little tale you made up if you want to, but I know I’m not putting my paws in that white stuff.  I’ve learned that the white is cold!  And I also have the feeling it’s going to be around for a long time now and it’s going to bring all its friends and relatives and it’s going to pile up on everything, and then it’s going to take Mom longer to get home from work and then we won’t get our supper until late and then she’s going to be crabby about driving on ice and then she won’t settle down and watch a movie with us and then…………..

Take a breath, Hemingway.  I remember the cold and I don’t like it.  Let’s just turn our backs on it and stare at that flower.

Mom Says………..

………that today is National Cat Day.

We don’t get it.  Why do humans think they have to make a special day for cats?

Don’t they realize that EVERY day is CAT DAY???

Well, to celebrate us today, Mom let us go outside and play when she got home from work.

It was a little chilly but we had our fur coats on.

imageedit_5_7490054099

Steinbeck, those leaves sure look like your fur!

imageedit_7_6502737757

Be quiet.  I think there’s a black kitty over here in the leaves.  I’m going to pretend I’m ignoring him and see if he turns around.

imageedit_1_3413449525

I can see for miles and miles and miles from this spot.  I can see more leaves falling.  Mom’s not going to be happy.  Those trees are making a mess in the yard again.

imageedit_9_6084390937

Look Hemingway……..the leaves are making a mess on the sidewalk and the driveway, too.  Mom doesn’t let us make big messes like that.  How come the trees get away with it?

imageedit_3_3782333025

I don’t know.  I thought Mr. Outdoor Cat was supposed to be watching for stuff like that.

imageedit_11_3274749464

Hemingway………did you hear what Mr. Outdoor Cat said?  He said it’s going to get colder, all the catnip will die and then he mumbled something about the “s” word.  Can we convince Mom to move to Florida???

Why not?  After all it’s National Cat Day!!!

Long Night Into Day

Look what my little brother did most of the day:

imageedit_1_9627346284

So what are you saying?  Mom got me this new bed so I’m supposed to sleep in it.

All day?????

imageedit_3_8380916357

Why not?  Look at how beautiful my furs look against the sparkly blue.  It makes my gingerness look gorgeous.

The only reason you are in that bed is ‘cuz you stayed out in the back yard too long last night and Mom got mad at  you. And then you got really tired.

I told her I was busy counting the flowers.  Look at all I found.

imageedit_5_8997669521

There was this pretty vine by the honeysuckle.

Look at that.  It’s red.

imageedit_11_6005914196

And look what was growing on the honeysuckle.  Isn’t it pretty?  It would be fun to bat around on the sidewalk.

And it’s red.

imageedit_7_9514863904

Then here’s some grrrrrrrrrrrrraniums.

Once again, they are red.

imageedit_9_3275649435

Then there’s this pretty flower I found by one of my hidey places.

Amazing.  It’s red.

imageedit_13_4318716507

And then I found this one also by my hidey place.

Hey………..it’s not red.  How did you manage to find that one?  So, what was your excuse to Mom for staying out so late.

I told you.  I told her I was counting flowers.

Only the red ones?

They were easier to see in the dark.  I really had to strain my eyes to count that black piece of tuna.

Steinbeck, I don’t appreciate you staying out late ‘cuz Mom gets worried and then both of us have to stay inside.

But I wanted to count flowers………………

Visitors All Over the Place

We’ve been having some lovely weather lately and Mom’s been letting us go outside with her.

She even found us some humongous, really big catnip leaves to enjoy.

imageedit_13_3676970738

Actually, I was a little more interested in my food dish.  Mom interrupted my supper with the chance to go outside.  I ran out quickly to see if there was anything interesting.  Then I figured it was best for me to get back in the house so I could eat Steinbeck’s food.

imageedit_11_5543563071

Hemingway……..you stay away from my food!  I planned on eating that later.  Notice that I have a very determined walk…….and a rather stern look on my face?  Hemingway……I mean it.  That food is mine.

It’s a good thing we both went back inside because before long we had visitors.  Our “cousins” all came over.

There was Stella the Goofy Newfie.

imageedit_17_9083713747

Who me???

Then there was Static the old man.

imageedit_1_5970290988

Who are you calling old???

Then there was this new guy they called Sunny.  Well, it might be Sonny.  Mom forgot to ask!

imageedit_9_9807392343

Sure, I’m the new guy but I’m really cute and I have lots and lots of energy!

imageedit_15_2042022179

Stella had to show that her black furs show off all the dirt……..just like Hemingway.

imageedit_5_8854423258

Sunny likes to cuddle.

imageedit_3_2781750243

And Stella likes to stick her tongue out.

imageedit_7_7602292280

Steinbeck stayed hidden while our cousins were visiting, but I was curious so I went right to the door and looked out at Sunny.  He wanted me to come out and play but everyone said I had to stay in the house.  He’s real new and they didn’t want him scaring me.

So, our quiet evening got pretty rowdy and now we’re all ready to go to sleep.  Hey….our cousins didn’t get into our catnip, did they????

Terrific Tuesday

We couldn’t wait for Mom to get home from that work place tonight.

We just had a feeling all three of us were going to go outside.

The birds were singing and the squirrels were running around in our yard.  They didn’t seem to care that we were coming outside to join them.

Here’s a little look at our exciting time tonight.

imageedit_1_2568444862

Mom, you’ve got lots of work to do.  Where did all these leaves come from?  Did the snow grow them?

imageedit_3_3923800066

Don’t worry, Mom.  I’ll help clean them up!  Just look at what a fine job I’m doing!!

imageedit_7_3107347838

Mom says this is my “Hunter Boy” pose.  She said she loves it ‘cuz it shows off all the colors of my furs.

imageedit_11_8829755060

This is what I did when Mom said we won’t be able to play outside tomorrow night ‘cuz it will be raining.  I wasn’t happy!

imageedit_5_4151486668

When we came inside Mom turned our toy on for us.  The feather dances all over the place.  It just didn’t seem to have the fascination that all the sights and sounds outside had, though.

Well, we hope you enjoyed our adventure outside.  We also hope that “snow” stuff is gone for good now……..and so does Mom.

Monday Meanderings

After a rainy weekend, Mom wanted to be outside when she got home from work tonight so that meant we got to go outside, too!

imageedit_1_7395083386Here I am checking out this bush.  It’s supposed to have leaves on it but I don’t see any.

imageedit_3_9103278502

And here I am trying to convince Hemingway that I AM outside….it just looks like I’m not.  I’m trying to warn him about the strange smells and sounds out there but obviously he’s not listening to me.

imageedit_7_3271976944

Mom found some little flowers blooming on the other side of the fence.

imageedit_9_9724803294Here’s some more that she thought were really pretty.

imageedit_11_3997414655

Now this flower is not real, but it’s one of her favorites.  It was made by a friend of hers.  She has lots of his stained glass things both inside and outside.  She tells us we can’t touch them.

And this picture is the very best:

imageedit_5_4959242027

Mom found some catnip growing and she gave us some!  I was so happy that I even walked out on the deck.

I walked out on the deck before I knew anything about the catnip.  Guess who the brave one is???
