Oh……….the sun shines bright……..

………on this cool autumnal day! The scenery is changing, we must say. The leaves they fall and the ducks all fly away……and the ground will soon be frozen hard as ice.

Steinbeck, what on earth are you doing?

I’m singing Mom’s favorite song, “My Old Kentucky Home”.

Well, that’s where she was born and she likes it and it makes her think of her dad who was also born there.

I meant, why are you singing, but more importantly…..those aren’t the words.

I’m being creative.

Oh give me a home, where the carrots grow tall……..where the catnip still grows in the fall……..where bunnies and squirrels don’t tease me at all……..and the sunshine still warms all my furs…………

If you can do it, so can I.

Sunday Selfies

“Happy Birthday to you…..

Happy Birthday to you………

Happy Birthday dear Allie…….

Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!”

I sang it loud like when I do the song of my people.  MOL!  Hemingway said he didn’t want to join in with my off-key singing.  However, he wishes Allie a very happy birthday, too.

We joined the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop where we’re all wishing Allie a Happy Birthday.  Check out our other friends.  We’re having a party!!

Theme Song

Here’s my new song that I made up in honor of my new best buddy.  Please sing it to the tune of “Me and My Shadow”.  Mom taught me that song!

Me and my green bean

Playing through the night and day

small me and my bean

Me and my green bean

No one better take him away.

small my bean

And when it’s time to eat

He hides away

I rush to eat

And then back to play.

Just me and my green bean

We are such a crazy pair!

What????? You’ve never seen a cat with his green bean before????

Hemingway Selfie.

Remember readers……….I have to live with him!!!

Good Grief!!! What Happened???

We were calmly blogging away, sharing pictures with our friends and chatting about the crazy things humans do.

Then it was dead silence.  Nobody heard from us.  Where did we go?

We didn’t go anywhere, but Mom sure did.  She had a super busy week (or so she says) and she didn’t remember to turn the puter on for us.   You just can’t count on humans.

Mom said she had to practice singing again.  Won’t she ever get it right?  She has been practicing and practicing for years and they still make her practice more.  I would think they would have given up on her by now.

I was busy exploring things and getting into trouble because I had too much time on my paws.  However, there was one day I was a little angel.  That was on Good Friday.  I had no idea what that day was but I figured it was the one day of the year I was supposed to be good.  I did my part and now I’m ready for mischief!

Mom………..I think I hear some mischief calling my name outside.

Steinbeck, look at how big your tummy is!

MOM……….Hemingway is picking on me again!!!!

What?????  I didn’t do anything.

From the Mom:  Sorry we’ve been missing, but things got a little hectic for me.  Obviously the boys found stuff to do.  We all had a very nice Easter and they got to spend some time outside.  Hopefully we’ll be able to meet you in the blogging world more often now!  I’ll close this with one of my favorite pictures of Steinbeck.

Just call me Mr. Casual.

Kitty Khoir……Our New Activity

Since Mom seems to spend so much time at choir, we decided we should organize a kitty khoir so we can keep busy, too.  Besides, then we could have family events and Mom says that’s always a good thing.

Of course I can read music. Can you direct a Kitty Khoir?
Of course I can read music. Can you direct a Kitty Khoir?

Who’s going to be in the kitty khoir?

Well, there are four basic sections in a human choir.

How do you know?

Mom told me.  Anyway, we have the sopranos who are the girl humans.  They sing the high squeaky notes.

Oh……..I know!!!!  We can get kittens to sing soprano.  They’re always squeaking and making those really high noises.

Good idea.  Then we have the altos.  They sing lower than the sopranos and they are also usually the girl humans.

So maybe the mommy kitties could sing that part.  I’ve heard they sometimes sing to the baby kittens to calm them.  I wonder if my mommy sang to me.

Mom sings to us now and she’s an alto so I think we have that part figured out perfectly.

What’s next?

Next we have the tenors.

Ten or what?

Tenors.  Those are usually the boy kitties who don’t sing really low.

I still don’t understand ten or what.  Maybe it should be the six-toed cats.  You know the ones I’m talking about.  That human who has the same name as you had six-toed cats. They have ten or twelve toes on just two feet sometimes……and they can have even more toes! So they would be ten ors.

I don't know what the number of toes you have has to do with singing, but I think we figured it out.
I don’t know what the number of toes you have has to do with singing, but I think we figured it out.

I’m not sure that’s right, but it’s making sense to me and since my name is involved there must be something to it  so let’s go for it.  Finally we have the basses.

BASSES????  We can’t have fish in our kitty khoir!!!  They would never last.

Relax.  It’s one of those human things with their words again.  It’s spelled bass but actually pronounced base, like first base in baseball.  Those are the male kitties who sing really, really low.

So we can get the old male kitties that are crabby.  They’re used to growling and that usually sounds like rumbling.

I think we’ve got it figured out!  Now we just have to get some volunteers and set up a practice schedule.  Mom’s going to be so surprised that we’re getting involved in some of her activities.

This is my close-up for my solo.

Hemingway…………can we stop all this planning now and go get something to eat?  I’m sure we can find the treats if we start looking.
