The Angels Are At It Again

If you look closely, you will see NO kitty paw prints out on the deck.

Steinbeck and I woke up this morning and saw that the angels had been busy again. They must have too much powdered sugar up there ‘cuz they dumped some more on us.

This is what we see out the front windows. The snowbanks across the street are getting bigger. We think those evergreens might be scared.
I got brave and stuck my little nose outside and this is what I saw in the back yard.

Not only did the angels dump the powdered sugar, but they also turned on all their fans and made things blow around here. Mom stuck her nose out to get the mail and the door almost blew shut!

And the angels also left all their freezers open ‘cuz Mom says the temperatures are going to keep dropping. I would love to stay up and look out the window to see if there are any dropping temps outside.

However………..this is what we’ll be doing:

What Happened?

imageedit_2_9843976138

Steinbeck, have you looked outside?

I don’t want to.  I made the mistake of looking out a little while ago and it was white.  I guess the angels were washing their wings and they spilled detergent all over the place.

You can believe that little tale you made up if you want to, but I know I’m not putting my paws in that white stuff.  I’ve learned that the white is cold!  And I also have the feeling it’s going to be around for a long time now and it’s going to bring all its friends and relatives and it’s going to pile up on everything, and then it’s going to take Mom longer to get home from work and then we won’t get our supper until late and then she’s going to be crabby about driving on ice and then she won’t settle down and watch a movie with us and then…………..

Take a breath, Hemingway.  I remember the cold and I don’t like it.  Let’s just turn our backs on it and stare at that flower.

Using Our Cat Imaginations

Hemingway, I have a wonderful idea!  It will be great fun for a Saturday night when it’s still too cold to go outside.

imageedit_1_2339585829

You do realize that you woke me up from my nap, don’t you?  What is this big idea you had.

Well, you know how all the silly humans were talking about the “snirt” that fell on us this past week?  At first I had no idea what they were talking about but Mom finally explained that “snirt” is snow-dirt.  Seems we got some dirt and sand all the way from Texas and New Mexico mixed in with our snow.

I heard about that when those weather people were talking.  I don’t know where Texas is but Mom says it’s a long ways away and we can’t go there.  I don’t know if I’m real happy about them sending their dirt to us, though.  Maybe we should send them our snow!

I know Mom would agree with that.  However, my idea for tonight is to come up with some other snow addition possibilities.  I’ll go first.

Snatnip = snow and catnip (I’m all in favor of that)

Ok, I get it.  Here’s another one.

Snocolate = snow and chocolate (Mom would love that)

Snake = snow and cake.  (I don’t think I like that one.)

Snickles = snow and pickles (that just sounds funny)

Snizza = snow and pizza (that sounds like someone’s sneezing)

Snowdered sugar = snow and powdered sugar

Snuppies = snow and puppies

Snittens = snow and kittens

You’re right, Steinbeck.  This was a fun thing to do on a cold Saturday night.  Thanks for coming up with the idea.  Now let’s go to sleep.

My deck is gone

Here’s me trying to figure out what happened to my deck

Not going out

And here’s me refusing to go out.

We’d show you a picture of Mom, but she has a really crabby face when she looks at that white stuff.  Those nasty weather people say it will keep dropping white stuff all night.

Where’s our catnip???

Mom said it’s safe ‘cuz it’s on the south side of the house.

Good!!!  Now I can go back to sleeping.

Stop Dusting!!!

The Boys 2018

We’re so tired of the angels dusting!!!

Did they save up all their dusting for a bazillion years or something?

Just look at what they did!

Mom opened the back door for us today and asked us if we wanted to go outside.

Is she crazy???  Why would we want to put our beautiful feet in all that “dust” the angels stirred up?

No sir.  We stayed inside.

Cold, Ice, Snow………..What’s Next?

We think we know why Mom is not a big fan of winter.

Well, we’re not big fans either.

True, but just think what we’ve been through in the past few days.  Last week the actual temperature was -30 and the windchill was around -50.

Isn’t most wind chilly?  At least in the winter.  That’s stupid to measure how chilly the wind is.  Humans……..

Anyway, then over the weekend it got warm and things started melting and it even rained.

Not a good plan, Mother Nature.

That’s right.  Mom went out to her car on Monday morning and before she knew it, she was kneeling in the driveway and couldn’t get up.  All around her was ice covered with water and there was no traction.

We promise we didn’t laugh.

Hemingway and Cookie Jar

I may have giggled around the cookie jar…….just a little.  But I only did that when I knew Mom was okay.  Even she admits that she looked kind of funny trying to get up.  She told us later that she kind of scooted over the water-covered ice so she could grab hold of her car.  Maybe if she had paws instead of feet with shoes on them, she might have been able to get some traction.  She got up, looked at us, kind of smiled and headed to work.

Now today the angels are busy dusting and they have feathers and dust flying all over the place.  Mom’s view at work got shortened with all that stuff flying around.

They must be working really hard ‘cuz the dust and feathers are flying all over the place.  Everywhere we look outside, it’s white.  Sometimes we can’t even see across the street.

I bet Mom wishes she had stayed home with us.

By the time Mom got home tonight, this is what it looked like.

Mom……….the angels just dusted up a storm today!!!

Remember when………

Remember when I was complaining about having too much cold and no snow?

imageedit_1_6851307030

I said all that cold was being wasted. Well…………

snow kitty

Look what happened to poor Outdoor Kitty!!!  He’s amazed.  We haven’t really had snow this winter……….until now.

ready

To make things worse, Mom said we’re losing all of our degrees and going way into the hole.  Tonight the actual temperature may get down to -27 F.  That’s almost beyond the bottom of degrees in my mind.  Poor Steinbeck has never seen cold like this.

Good thing Mom got more wood so we can just stay inside and be warm.

fire

If anyone has extra degrees, please send them our way!  We would all really appreciate it.

Home of the Brave

That’s me!!!

imageedit_9_9015459481

I’m the brave one. I went outside in the cold airs and I even sat down on the really cold deck.  Mom, you could have cleared a bigger space for me.  I barely fit all of me in this spot.  See the wood?  That’s so we can have fires in the house and make it cozy.  The wood man came last weekend with his really big truck and unloaded wood for the house.  We were both scared of him ‘cuz he doesn’t come that often, but we were all thankful he was here.

imageedit_4_4150424625

I’m brave, too!  It’s just that my toy wanted me to stay inside with it and sit in the sun puddle.  I didn’t want to hurt the toy’s feelings so I stayed inside where it’s warm.  I didn’t want my ginger toes touching all that cold white stuff.  I sniffed the cold airs and decided the angels had left the freezer doors open way too long for me.

Mom had the day off today so we both got extra play time with her.

She had to go see the dentist and get her toofies cleaned.  She told me that they use root beer flavored cleaning stuff.  What’s root beer?

It’s a flavor you probably wouldn’t like.  They would have to use catnip flavored stuff for us.

My toofies are fine so I don’t need to be going anywhere no matter what flavor is involved.

And you were talking about being brave?

Never mind…………..

Spring? Sunday Selfie

Mom said that my look expresses her feelings too.  That’s why she decided to let me use this picture for the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop.

For those of you who don’t know, we got hit with another winter storm over the weekend and got over a foot of new snow.  There will be mountains of snow all over the place until July!  Mom is really fed up and she keeps mumbling things about Hawaii.  We don’t know what she’s talking about, but we’re thinking she’s not happy with the weather people right now.

So, here’s what I think about all this snow and cold:
