Evening Traditions

We try our best to make Mom laugh when she comes home from work.

We both have our traditions and if we don’t do them, Mom knows something is wrong., like when I got so sick.

I like to sit in the side window in the living room and watch for Mom to come home.  Mom usually looks at the window to see if I’m there.  However, I know what her car sounds like so I can tell she’s there before she pulls into the driveway.  She always starts laughing (or so she tells me) ‘cuz she can tell I’ve been waiting for her.  See, when she pulls into the driveway and looks at the window, if I’m not there, she can tell I was ‘cuz the blinds are moving in all sorts of directions.

I make Mom laugh when she gets to the door.  She has her key in her hand but she looks in the door, and there I am reaching up for the doorknob to “help” her.  She thinks I look so cute that she can’t help but laugh.  Then when she finally unlocks the door and opens it, I take time for a quick “mew” and then I’m off racing into the back yard to see what I’ve missed.  I usually do come back in again to check on my food dish, but I like to spend as much time in the back yard as I can.

Then, once we’re both inside, we have to take a nap.  Usually we’re both on the couch with Mom.  We watch TV or read or maybe talk on the phone.  It’s our together time and sometimes we get to chase the red dot.

When it’s almost time for Mom to go to bed, she goes out to the kitchen where all the food is and she gets us some treats.  Hemingway sits up and begs for his treats but I don’t have time for that so Mom just lets me have mine.

So, we have greeting time, outside time, together time and then treat time.

Guess what comes next?

Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas

Hi, Readers!  Today is my ninth birthday.  That’s almost two paws!!!  Mom says the time has gone really fast and she can’t imagine what it was like before she adopted me.

I think I look quite distinguished for being almost two paws old.  I keep my tuxedo nice and clean for all the ladies.

I told Mom that I was sure there were some things in this bag that were for me.  I didn’t think I should have to share with Steinbeck, but Mom reminded me that we always share ‘cuz that’s the nice thing to do.  Well, what Mom doesn’t know is that Steinbeck and I got into this package last night while everyone was sleeping and we helped ourselves to some treats.

Mom, if you just move this particular thing over just a little, you can see where the treats were.  Steinbeck and I had a nice time enjoying the treats.  It was our own little private party to celebrate me getting older.

I’m sooooooooooo glad Hemingway had a birthday so we could get extra treats.  Don’t I look cute when I’m smiling innocently???

Catty Halloween!

Last year I was just a little kitten and didn’t really understand why all those little humans came knocking at our door, asking for candy.  I even wondered if kitties went door to door asking for catnip.

You were pretty confused……in fact, you still are.

No, I’m a big kitty now and I know lots of stuff so I’ll be brave and maybe even look out the window.

I’ll meet you under the bed.  I don’t think you’ll be able to look out the window.

You mean we’re both going to be scared?

Well, there will be more noise than usual and Mom will constantly be going to the door.  I don’t think we’ll be able to nap comfortably.

I sure hope Mom doesn’t forget to give us our treats!

Readers, we had Mom help us with a couple of Halloween pictures for you to enjoy.

Steinbeck Fangs

If you look carefully, you can see my fangs!

Hemingway Halloween

I went for a calmer, more mosaic look this year.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Hey……Halloween must be for US!  Look at the colors……..orange and black…….just like us!!

Our Minds Wander…..

We have a window.  From this lovely perch (not the fish kind), we can see all sorts of things.

Side by side

Sometimes we see doggies walking on OUR street!

Steinbeck, don’t be selfish.  Sometimes we see birdies and butterflies.

There goes a birdie now!

Oh……..and remember the kitty I saw underneath the window?

Yes, that is the kitty who lives next door.

I’ve even seen squirrels running around the flowers, looking for stuff from the bird feeder.Steinbeck looking up 2

I had my mouth open and Mom said a fly might go in there!  YUK!!!

Hemingway dreaming

Sometimes I get to sit quietly at the window all by myself.  I dream of a world without orange.  I dream of a front yard filled with catnip.  I dream of peace and quiet.  (Mom says sometimes she dreams of that, too……especially when I wake her up at 4:30 in the morning!)

Surrounded by ginger

However, the reality is that I’m surrounded by orange!  Even the table kitty is orange!

Side by side 2

I guess it’s really not that bad.  I do have my little brother to help me look out the window.  Sometimes he warns me if there’s something spooky out there, but most of the time he’s just busy looking all over the place.

So, that’s the “tail” of our window.  Don’t worry.  We actually have plenty of windows but this one is our favorite.  We can see when Mom comes home from work.

Hemingway, do you hear Mom getting something out of our treat drawer??????

Election Day

Mom kept telling us that this was Election Day and we should go vote.  Well, if it’s today, why did she vote last Saturday?  She just went off to work this morning and said, “Bye.  Be good and don’t forget to vote.”

voting

Mr Mouse, this was my first election day and I was scared.  I thought I would vote for the wrong thing. They shouldn’t make us young kittens vote on important stuff.  I just pray I did the right thing!  I can tell you that I voted for free catnip for all the kittens and cats in our country.  I also voted for good homes for all the fur people so nobody is hungry or cold.  Then I voted for an extra treat tonight.  🙂

voting2

Mr. Mouse, I’ve been through this before but I had to help the little one.  He was scared to put any marks on the ballot.  I think he did pretty good so he shouldn’t worry.  I voted for a little free time for myself.  I also voted for daycare for kittens so we adult cats don’t have to kittensit them all the time while our humans work.  I also voted for extra treats!

Yes, Mr. Mouse.  We did our duty….

…..and so did Mom!

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year!

Party with your favorite treats!

Don’t fight with your siblings!   (Mom made me say that!)

Don’t drink and drive…..Mom, I’m too young to drive so does that mean I can drink?

The Mom:  only water and tuna water, dear boy

Oh, and greet 2016 for us ‘cuz we will probably be asleep!!

Happy New Year to all our dear readers.  May 2016 be a year of peace, blessings and joy!

Enough is Enough

Mom says we can’t ignore our friends and fans any longer.  We have to sit down and write to everyone.

If we do that, will Mom give us treats?

Shakespeare, you know that you get treats all the time!

So what should we talk about?  WAIT………….I know!!!  Mom’s no longer a tent!!!

Hemingway Praying

People…..do you see what I have to put up with???  Mom is no longer a temp!  She was never a tent!

Fine!  So what’s a temp?

It means that Mom is now working for the company and no longer working for the agency

So?  She still leaves the house every day and leaves us alone.

But now she has benefits from the company.

She gets treats?

Well, she did tell me that there are lots of food parties there.  However, the benefits she’s talking about include vacation time so she can play with us and medical and dental insurance and stuff like that.

I don’t like going tot he doctor’s house.  I would need lots and lots and lots of assurance.

No.  Insurance.  It helps pay the bills.

Does she have insurance on us?

No.  She said she’s counting on us being healthy.

Well, I can’t be healthy without treats!

Readers…………do I really have to put up with this????

We finished with the puter.  Now where are our treats?
