Mom didn’t have to go to work yesterday so I’m busy helping her try to catch up on everything today.
Here’s something for our readers to figure out. Just how many legs do you think I have?
Boys, I am beginning to think that you are just wasting the day away. I wish I could play silly games all day. Oh, and Hemingway, lying on my computer keyboard is not really helping……no matter what you think. However, I do thank both of you for the pleasant company today.
You may not realize it but we’ve both been very busy trying to find Mom a job so we haven’t been in the blogosphere for a long time.
We loved having her home ‘cuz then we got to play outside more.
Don’t tell the doctor lady but she even gave us a little lunch each day! (We’re both supposed to be on diets….especially Hemingway!)
Steinbeck, what did I tell you about that subject????
I can’t remember.
Likely story. Anyway, this morning we helped Mom eat her breakfast and make her lunch. Then we pushed her out the door.
MOM GOT A NEW JOB!!!!
I was going to gently let the readers know…….sigh
I love telling the readers exciting things so I couldn’t wait. Tell them more about the new job. I’ll be quiet.
Well, it’s less than ten minutes from home and she doesn’t have to drive on the freeway at all. Steinbeck……don’t ask about the freeway now.
OK. What a grouch!
Anyway, she’s on the eight floor of a building that overlooks the Delta hangars (that used to be Northwest where she worked), Ft. Snelling (where her parents are buried), the Mall of America and a busy freeway. She loves the views that she has from her desk. She said she’s going to take pictures sometime so we can see.
She said she had pizza today for lunch and then they all had cookies for a celebration in the afternoon. How come she gets to eat all the time, Hemingway?
‘Cuz she’s the Mom!! You know that.
At least now we don’t have to worry about her running out of money to buy our food and toys.
We miss having Mom home during the day but she seems really happy to have this job. She said the people are really nice and she felt very welcome. Her boss even greeted her with a hug and at the end of the day asked if she was coming back the next day. MOL!!!
We’re happy for Mom and now we’re going to do more napping during the day so we can play at night when she gets home.
Mom says to thank everyone who prayed, said kind words, and encouraged her. It all meant lots to her!!
Mom says we can’t ignore our friends and fans any longer. We have to sit down and write to everyone.
If we do that, will Mom give us treats?
Shakespeare, you know that you get treats all the time!
So what should we talk about? WAIT………….I know!!! Mom’s no longer a tent!!!
People…..do you see what I have to put up with??? Mom is no longer a temp! She was never a tent!
Fine! So what’s a temp?
It means that Mom is now working for the company and no longer working for the agency
So? She still leaves the house every day and leaves us alone.
But now she has benefits from the company.
She gets treats?
Well, she did tell me that there are lots of food parties there. However, the benefits she’s talking about include vacation time so she can play with us and medical and dental insurance and stuff like that.
I don’t like going tot he doctor’s house. I would need lots and lots and lots of assurance.
No. Insurance. It helps pay the bills.
Does she have insurance on us?
No. She said she’s counting on us being healthy.
Well, I can’t be healthy without treats!
Readers…………do I really have to put up with this????
We finished with the puter. Now where are our treats?
Mom goes to work almost every day and she says she works with a computer and phones.
We stay home and wait for her to get back from work.
Then it’s time to eat. I just can’t wait for Mom to put her things down so she can put food in our dishes.
After eating, we’re ready to play but Mom says she has to get busy and fix supper for her brother and herself.
If she would just put some cat food in dishes for the two of them, then she wouldn’t have to do any cooking. Wait……I just thought about that. If they start eating our cat food then it will disappear faster. This is declared a BAD IDEA.
Shakespeare, you’re hung up on food again. We’re supposed to be thinking about work.
How can we do that when we don’t go to work?
Well, if we did, I wonder if we would have to dress up.
Would there be other fur people working?
Can we apply for jobs ourselves or do we have to have Mom do it?
What do humans do at work? Would fur people do the same thing?
You know…………Mom said we can’t go out of our yard so how could we go to work?
Well, I’ve heard about working from home….
That sounds ridiculous. Home is for napping, playing and eating. No working at home!!! EVER!!!
Yep, we get to blame Mom again and this time it really is her fault.
Remember when we told you Mom was looking for a job? She tried to convince us to get jobs but we told her we can’t use the phone and we can’t drive the car to jobs so she kind of eased up on us.
However, we wanted her to get a job so she can keep buying us food, treats and toys! Did I mention treats??
Well, Mom now has a job. We’re all doing the Happy Dance.
Not exactly. Now Mom is gone all the time and that means our play time outside has been severely cut back. Just when the sun starts shining again and the temps get warmer, Mom goes and gets a job! Why wasn’t she working in the winter?
Quit complaining. She lets us out when she can. However, she has another problem. She went to see the human doctor man Friday night after work.
I’m glad she didn’t go see our doctor!
She came home with all sorts of meds and told us….
Wait, let me tell! She has bratwurtitist and red hot lungs.
Goof……..she has bronchitis and inflamed lungs. She told us she didn’t realize how sick she was. We heard her coughing and it sounded much worse than when we hack up a fur ball. We knew she was sick. Silly humans.
So, she’s on lots of meds now and she had to stay put this weekend. We got to play outside so we were happy.
Here’s some of our adventures from this morning.
Thanks for being patient while we tried to get Mom to turn on the ‘puter for us again. We hope to do a better job staying in touch, but we know Mom has to get better.
Mom said it’s Labor Day Weekend so she gets another day at home and that makes me very happy. I decided I would show her that I sometimes understand her when she talks to me so I decided to labor with her today. You see…I know that word means work. Usually I just run from work but today I decided to be adult about it. I helped Mom cut up the dead tree into littler pieces and then tied them in bundles for the garbage man. Mom said I sometimes got in the way but I know she just didn’t like me telling her which piece to move next.
I have a completely different idea of Labor Day. I think it’s when the humans have to labor but we kitties don’t The humans should labor making us grilled salmon, harvesting catnip, buying us new toys and brushing us. To me that sounds like a wonderful Labor Day.
Dear readers, as you can see, we are as different as black and orange……..
