So, last night Mom and I were sound asleep. Suddenly I had a “nightcat”. You don’t know what that is? Well, humans call them “nightmares” and that doesn’t make sense to me. Humans aren’t horses and neither am I. Since the humans are too lazy to make it the right word, I decided I would.
In the light of day I don’t remember what my “nightcat” was about but it sure scared me. I like to sleep up by Mom’s head so she can hear me purring. We were both sleeping soundly and suddenly the “nightcat” made me fly out of bed. Luckily Mom had her hand up by her face and that’s what I used as my launching pad. She flew out of bed then, too.
She had that red stuff coming out of her hand and she had to take care of it. She told me it was very lucky for me that I used her hand as the launching pad and not her face. Needless to say I didn’t get to sleep in her room the rest of the night.
I wish I could remember what the “nightcat” was about. Maybe I was afraid Shakespeare was going to eat all the food in the house…….
I was sound asleep in another room so don’t go blaming me for your “nightcat”!!!
I have nightcats once in a while but fortunately for Mom I don’t sleep by her OR Dad so they are safe from my claws if I get wild! Hope you feel alright today- sometimes after a bad dream we’re a little “squirrely” !!
Hugs, Sammy
Sammy, those nighcats can be something. I think Mom must get them sometimes, too. When can be sound asleep and suddenly she jumps. At least we have each other to scare!!
Here’s hoping your Mom’s face isn’t covered in scritches.
Luckily she had her hands by her face so I got her hand. She said it’s fine but she really appreciates the kind thoughts!
This is very interesting. Out tuxedo Kosmo has also “nightcats”. He is sleeping and suddenly jumps up shouting. One day I was sitting in an armchair, Kosmo was sleeping in a wardrobe and I heard him jumping down and he ran to me and jumped to my lap a little bit confused. These “nightcats” must be scary.
Nightcats are scary. Kosmo is lucky he has you for comfort! Mom took good care of me. Purrs to you!
Oops. It was just an accident, H. I’m sure your mom isn’t mad at you…. Once, Mom closed my tail in the door. It hurt, but didn’t get mad.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Our humans don’t really get mad at us ‘cuz they love us, Cupcake. Accidents happen and we all have to remember that. Mom gave me tuna juice for supper tonight so she still loves me. 🙂

Good advice guys!!! I never thought about that!!
That musta been scary, Hemingway. We hope you don’t have any more nightcats.
I really don’t like those nightcats. Thanks for caring! purrssss
Sorry you had a nightcat, that is awful. And your poor Mom, good thing it was just her hand.
Yes, she was glad I didn’t do more damage…..but she felt bad I had a nightcat!
Oh dude those Nightcats are horrible. Kali has a lot of them and she yells in her sleep. She’s not a lot of fun to sleep with because every night she gets them. Usually not too bad but some nights she calls out for mom and mom pets her and talks her back to sleep.
Shoko
Mom said I didn’t yell in my sleep so that’s good! That would probably scare me even more!!!
That must have been a bad one. Marty has them too. Thank goodness you and your Mom are OK today Hemingway!
Yes, we’re both doing fine, thank! There should be an anti-nightkitty herb out there. iI wonder if catnip will help when it starts growing again……..
Let’s hope! Mom just bought us some new plants and planted it.
Our plants aren’t growing yet so please let us know!
I’ve never had a nightcat – they sound scary for both kitties and humans!
Summer………..they really are!!!
Oh no! Sometimes it’s better not to remember the nightcat. Hope your mom’s hand is okay!
Mom’s hand is fine and I haven’t had any more nightcats! 🙂
We absolutely love both of these photos! Sorry about your nightcat, Hemingway! Good thing you didn’t launch from Mom’s face. Some of us have done that, and Mom did not take too kindly to it. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Mom was really glad she had her hand in the way. She still has marks on it but she says it doesn’t hurt. I told her I was sorry!
